Have you ever had an issue with your eyeshadow where it just simply disappears? You put it on your eyelid, then 20 minutes later, it has creeped up into your crease and you can no longer see your hard work!  So frustrating, right? There’s a super simple, and inexpensive solution– Eyeshadow Primer!

5 reasons you need an eyeshadow primer, and my top 3 favs! www.heathershefbeauty.com

Here are 5 reasons you need an eyeshadow primer in your makeup routine:

1.  Your eyeshadow colors will blend more easily.

2. Your eyeshadow looks will last longer on your eyes.

3. Primer helps to prevent fallout.

4. Your eyeshadow colors will be more bold and colorful.

5. Primer will stop the classic ‘disappearing act’ of your eyeshadows to your eyelid crease.

There are many levels and brands of eyeshadow primer, but I’m going to talk about my 3 favorite ones.

Wet’n’Wild-

Wet’n’Wild’s Photofinish Eye Primer is around $5 and is available online and in many drugstores. It is a perfect primer for beginners or anyone who is looking to stay within a small budget. I use it regularly on myself and love how easy it is to apply and how easy it is to find at the store! This eyeshadow primer works great with powder shadows. If you are using a cream shadow, I do not recommend this particular primer.

Urban Decay-

Urban Decay Primer Potion is a very well known eye primer and comes in a few shades and formulations. I love this for the applicator, and the durability. Also, the darker shades are perfect for more dramatic eye looks and for anyone with darker skin! It is available at higher end stores like Ulta and Sephora, and also online. It runs about $25 for a tube. This primer is perfect for cream or powder eyeshadows and will keep your eyeshadows looking perfect for 12+ hours!

NYX Glitter Primer-

NYX Glitter Primer is like super glue for your shadows! I love to use this with my glitter shadows because it has extra strong sticking power. Glitter glue will keep your glitters on your lids, and keep them off your cheeks and face. When I’m using glitter shadows, I will apply my base shadows first, then apply NYX Glitter primer only on the areas that I want to place my glitter shadows. Then, while it is still tacky, I apply my glitter shadows. This keeps my glitters where I want them, and helps me to create the eyeshadow looks I’m going for. NYX Glitter primer runs about $6 and can be purchased at Ulta, Target, and other stores that carry the NYX brand.

How do I apply eyeshadow primer?

It’s so simple. When I prime my face, I prime my eyes. I simply take a tiny amount of eyeshadow primer and use my finger to pat it onto my eyelids. That’s it! Then, I just apply my eyeshadows like I normally would. If you see a white residue after applying your eyeshadow primer, this usually means you’ve applied too much primer, or you haven’t rubbed it into your skin well enough and there’s some build up in that area. Simply wipe it off, and apply it again.

I hope you love this info and that you can begin to feel like an eyeshadow pro!
